Day 1  arrival Johannesburg - Pretoria

The journey begins with a 'touchdown' in Johannesburg.
Upon arrival you will be met by your travel crew who will assist with changing money ect.
We travel to Pretoria to freshen up and this afternoon we visit the Lion Park, a nice introduction to the wildlife of Africa. Here we take a self drive and see that there lives a fairly large population of white lions.  Also you can enter here giraffes and play with lion cubs.

Day 2 & 3  Pretoria - Blyde River Canyon & Klaserie

We leave Pretoria and travels northeast to Blyde River Canyon.
We stop for lunch in Pilgrims Rest, visit Bourkes Luck and Blyderiver Canyoun 
Tonight is our first night camping 
The next morning we do a 2 hour hike to explore the canyon. 
After lunch we travel to Hoedspruit and then to the Klaserie Reserve, arriving mid-afternoon setting camp and preparing for a sun set drive in search of the Big 5.
We camp wild In Klaserie Game Reserve we follow in the footsteps of a park ranger. You get a real bush course with stories about the animals, their sounds and tracks. Around the campfire you will get information about the Milky Way, about camping between wild and hear tall tales.

Day 4 & 5 & 6 Klaserie – Kruger National Park

After spending the night in the bush, the course continues. We get up early for a morning walk led by the guide. We're going to track, you will learn about the wild, their behavior, ecosystems, poaching and anti-poaching (preventing and combating poaching).
After breakfast we leave the Klaserie Game Reserve and take a short drive to the entrance of Kruger National Park. 
The rest of the day and the next day is spending on game drives.
We go in search of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino), but also look forward to cheetahs, giraffes, hippos and small game.
We camp inside the park where we enjoy dinners under the African sky and around a big bush fire.

Day 6 & 7  Kruger National Park & Swaziland 

After our last game drive and breakfast  we leave the Kruger Park on the southern border.  
We cross the border into the Kingdom of Swaziland; one of the smallest countries in Africa, but one with a rich culture, a lot of heritage and a relaxed atmosphere with friendly people.
Enjoying lunch at Ngwenya Glass we visit a cultural village and learn about the Swazi customs, dance and tradition.
The next day is spending hiking, horse back safari and biking safari in a nature reserve viewing animals by foot or saddle.
We overnight in traditional beehives' amidst small game like impalas, warthogs and ostriches.

Day 8 & 9 Hlane National Park - St. Lucia

Today the we go either white water rafting (optional activity) on the Usuthu River. In two-person rafts, then kayak by beautiful nature, where you occasionally have to restrain a spectacular rapids. The trip ends with a abseil of 12 meters (at low tide). 
For the less adventurist we go shopping. Swaziland has some of the best craftsman in Africa and we visit their studios and markets.
Tonight we are sleeping out at Hlane National Park  

Day 10 & 11 Hlane & St Lucia

This morning we go Rhino Tracking (optional activity) where you can admire these behemothson on safari vehicle and on foot - Elephants permitting 
For some this activity is the highlight on the whole tour  
After our adventures we leave Swaziland and travel to St. Lucia, a seaside resort, known for the UNESCO list because it has five different ecosystems. In St. Lucia you can choose from many activities.
You can make a day trip to the  Umfolosi National Park, or take a boat trip in the St Lucia Wetland Park.
Visiting Cape Vidal and just spending a day on the beach is a popular excursion - a relaxing day might just be what the doctor ordered

Day 12 & 13 & 14 St Lucia - Durban - Drakensberg

From St. Lucia we drive to Durban, which is a 2 hour trip.
This afternoon we can explore Durban visiting some of its markets or soak up the Indian culture Durban is renounced for.
After breakfast  there is an opportunity to explore the Durban beach front or Ushaka Marine World. Visit the Victoria market with its relaxed atmosphere and great bargains, or the new World Cup Moses Mabida stadium. 
At midday
 we leave for the Southern Drakensberg in the Sani Pass region.
The next three days we stay on a horse- and cattle farm at the foot of the mountain that 'near the Sani Pass, which forms the border with Lesotho.
I
n this beautiful environment, you can horseback riding, hiking, rafting (seasonal) or by a 4x4 jeep trip to the Sani Pass. 
This tour will take you on gravel roads, hairpin bends and rewards you with fantastic views. At 2865m, you are on the highest pass in the country and you look so in Lesotho.
Do not forget your passport, because here you can at the highest pub in Africa get a cool beer

Day 15-16 Pretoria - Johannesburg

From the Drakensberg is a long drive back to Pretoria.
We spend the night in our lodge in Pretoria and to the town can have another look at our convenience we have missed any in the first two days. We end the tour with a good last meal and a pleasant evening in a bar.
The next day we travel to the airport and we will visit yet Soweto, the cradle of the anti-apartheid movement. Besides Soweto itself (Soweto stands for South Western Township) an area of 50 km in diameter with a lot of interesting stories, we visit the Apartheid Museum and the house that Nelson and Winnie Mandela lived prior to his imprisonment.
In Soweto we have the opportunity to leave behind more than old unwanted clothes - we gonna paint someones house as part of our community project giving some Ubuntu back to the poor and less privileged  
After this impressive valve we get back on the plane on the way back home.

    

Trip Information

During the tour of South Africa, we vary in nights of camping between wild sleeping in traditional beehives "in Swaziland. Sleeping is an experience in itself! We camp about 8 nights and 7 nights we sleep in a bedded accommodation. The tents and mattresses are provided, a sleeping bag and a (inflatable) cushion you need to bring your own. 
In bedded accommodation you sleep with about 4 people in a room.
 It is possible to book one room (single supplement apply)

Bedded accommodation

When you are in the places where we camp would rather sleep in a bedded accommodation, you can spot choose to upgrade to bedded accommodation. 
You then pay the difference between the bedded accommodation and stay at the campground in a tent site at.

The height of this upgrade depends on the location, the different types of accommodation that are available at that location and how many people you wish to share. The crew can give you information on this site.

Destination Information

The northeast of South Africa is known for its beautiful natural parks, of which the vast Kruger National Park is the most famous. Your tour of South Africa is largely dominated by wildlife spotting in the many parks. Swaziland is a separate kingdom in the middle of South Africa, with its own culture and nature parks. Time seems to have stood still here. The east coast is pleasant and offers you plenty of options for fun activities.

Climate

The winter season in South Africa runs from June to August and the summer season from December to February. In winter it can especially at night quite cold in South Africa, at higher altitudes is even snow. In the south the coast is pleasant in the winter season in terms of temperature, around 20 degrees.
